"Our judges agreed that this hat is both fun and funky, plus it's a good shout out to the community involvement with the Survivors Parade, which has become an important tradition Derby weekend," said Brittany Gorter, director of marketing and communications at the Kentucky Derby Museum.
The annual hat contest is held each year immediately following Derby weekend.
This year, 41 Oaks & Derby hats were entered from all over the United States for a chance to win a coveted spot in the Kentucky Derby Museum's gallery.

This year's Judges' Choice & Employees' Choice winner
was worn by April Hendry, a Florida resident who visited
Churchill Downs Derby weekend. She purchased her unique headpiece from Florida milliner Rebecca Bergmann's
"Couture Punk" collection for $1,200.
"I worked closely with my client April as I do all my clients who desire a custom hat or fascinator. "I am thrilled the judges like it as much as I do as a lot of work went into my creation for April"
said Milliner Rebecca Bergmann.
